Lately I have not been liking my Canon G1X Mark III and have even been thinking of replacing it even though I have barely used it. I find the pictures noisy and lacking sharpness when comparing to my beloved but broken Ricoh GRIII. It might be the zoom lens, it might be that it requires different ways of processing in Lightroom. Other people seem to think its very sharp, and so do scientific chart things that look at that sort of stuff. Therefore I am giving it a few more chances before I perhaps replace it with a Fujifilm x100v.
This one might have been a bit over adjusted as it was a fairly dark spot. I am pixel peeping the shadows for noise.
Lots of contrast in this shot, and I edited it to be even more so. The leaves just dont look right to me.
Fine, but any camera would do fine with this.
Seems to be lacking 3dness or something?
This is the worst shot here, the leaves look bad, and the grass at the end of the street is a green detail free blob. Admittedly this is using the zoom, and all my previous cameras were prime lenses.
This one is ok I guess, the metal should look more metallic though, its a bit soft.
I take this photo a lot, I have zoomed in a bit and its only f/6.3, but I feel the buildings in the background should be sharper.
This one is nicer! Zoomed out, f/8.0, sharp and 3d. Subject matter helps of course.
High contrast scene, leaves again look soft.

This is iso800, but the noise seems really high. I am using NR in lightroom. On previous cameras iso800 would have no noise with no noise reduction used at all. Those metal roof beams look like they are covered in grey carpet.
I have messed with contrast and blacks here to make this look grimier.
Cloudy now on covid abandoned streets, still in lockdown. Technically I am breaking the law by taking photos as I am lingering and not buying essential food.
Another high contrast scene. Those green traffic lights have very large halos around them. I think thats bad?
Entire scene looks soft, no detail in the bricks.

I have not taken any photos for months, partly due to lockdown, but maybe partly due to not liking my camera?
